Het ongeval gebeurde bij het &#8220;2e poortje&#8221;, daar waar de Lijnweg overgaat in de Cuneraweg. De hulpdiensten kwamen massaal ter plaatse, ook een mobiel medisch team werd per helikopter ingevlogen. De brandweer heeft een deel van de zijkant van de auto moeten verwijderen om de bestuurder te bevrijden.
